Dealer Spotlight: Gary & Linda Huston â Restored Furniture with Heart at Antique World Mall Boise
If you love restored furniture, barnwood doors, vintage hardware, and one-of-a-kind antique finds in Boise, youâll want to meet Gary and Linda Huston of Rome Lane, Vendor 875 at Antique World Mall.
This husband-and-wife team brings more than skill to their booth â they bring history, heart, humor, and decades of experience in the antique world.
And as they like to say⌠they qualify as antiques themselves.
A Dream That Began in 1993
Linda always dreamed of owning her own antique and craft shop. In 1993, that dream became reality when she opened her first store. For more than a decade, she curated, created, and sold beautiful pieces that blended antiques with handcrafted charm.
But life has a way of shifting our plans.
In 2006, when Lindaâs mother developed dementia, Gary and Linda lovingly welcomed her into their home. During those years, Linda needed something meaningful she could do from home while caregiving.
Thatâs when furniture painting entered the picture.
What began as a practical solution quickly became a passion.
From Caregiving to Craftsmanship
For seven and a half years, Linda restored and painted furniture while caring for her mother full time. Every piece she refinished carried patience, resilience, and quiet dedication.
Furniture restoration wasnât just creative work â it became a form of healing, purpose, and expression.
When the time came to expand again, opening a booth at Antique World Mall in Boise felt like the perfect next chapter. Finally, all those finished pieces had a proper home â instead of testing how much furniture one house can legally hold.
Retirement Means More Sawdust
When Gary retired, he didnât slow down â he simply shifted gears.
He jumped into the business wholeheartedly, bringing his own craftsmanship and passion for woodworking. Today, youâll find:
-
Custom barnwood doors
-
Decorative hinges
-
Unique hardware
-
Creative architectural details
-
One-of-a-kind furniture builds
Garyâs additions give each piece character you simply canât replicate.
Because around here, retirement clearly means working with more sawdust.
Texas âJunkingâ and Treasure Hunting
Gary and Linda share a love for travel and antiques â especially their annual trips to Texas to âjunk.â
Thereâs nothing better than discovering a forgotten treasure, loading it into the truck, and bringing it back to Boise to restore and reimagine.
Their booth reflects that spirit of the hunt. Youâll find:
-
Vintage and rustic furniture
-
Restored and painted antique pieces
-
Barnwood creations
-
Unique salvage finds
-
Functional art with history
Every item has lived a life before â and now itâs ready for its next chapter.
